Our Programs

AARP Tax Support Program:
The Morro Bay Church of Christ has been host to a program which has helped hundreds of senior and low income tax payers develop and file their income taxes each of the last sixteen years. The service is offered as a community service and is free.  There are limitations to the scope of work for the AARP Tax Preparers so it is highly recommended to check their website:http://www.ccfreetax.org/or call them at (805) 931-6308 during tax season to see if your tax filing would qualify to be done by this certified tax preparer program.

Many clients get tax refunds, which have allowed thousands of dollars to be returned to the local economy.

For more income tax information see websites: http://www.aarp.org/money/taxes/aarp_taxaide/ or IRS.gov.

“Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s”. (Matthew 22:19-21)

GriefShare:
The Morro Bay Church of Christ is host to a very important program that helps those who have suffered the loss of a loved one to learn to deal with the emotions of grief.  The program is called GriefShare, a program that has been developed by Church Initiative.

The GriefShare program is a thirteen week series of video based sessions that include breakout groups that share what has been experience in the loss of a loved one and allows for the sharing of the feelings that come with the loss.

Topics include: Living with Grief; The Journey of Grief; When Your Spouse Dies; Stuck in Grief; Your Family and Grief; and other important topics.

We highly recommend the daily devotional that is free from GriefShare.  365 short devotionals to help one get through that first year or any year that grief has you down.  Sign up at http://www.griefshare.org/.

Currently, griefShare is on hold as the facilitators are dealing with a medical issue. They will see some one on as needed basis.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” (II Corinthians 1:3-4)

Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Fund:
The Morro Bay Church of Christ is sensitive to when a disaster hits our fellow citizens of the United States. To that end, we are supportive of the work done by the organization Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort.
To learn more about this work, visit http://disasterreliefeffort.org/ or see their Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/disasterreliefeffort.

Community Bible Study:
To show the spirit of unity, our minister teaches a class at another congregation in town on Wednesday mornings. There are members of four to five churches in Morro Bay that attend the class.

Eastern European Mission:
When the Berlin Wall fell on November 9, 1989; the door was open to getting the printed Word of God and accompanying materials into the hands of those who had not been allow to own these types of materials.

The mission of EEM (http://www.eem.org/) is to do what no longer can be done in the United States, get the Bible into the hands of students in public schools. The Morro Bay Church of Christ has members who support this very worthwhile cause.

KKJL Radio Advertisement:
The Morro Bay Church of Christ has been an advertiser on this San Luis Obispo County secular radio station, bringing short statements of faith, inspiration, and scripture reading to many who do not attend church.  We strive to reach those who are not part of the ‘choir’.  This has included Giants Baseball. KKJL – 1400 AM and 106.5 FM is an ‘oldies but goodies station.  Check them out at http://www.kkjl1400.com/.

My Master’s Moments:
This is a devotional booklet developed from an earlier work by Evangelist Hugh Shira, then Minister of the Buena Park Church of Christ and a Director and Instructor at the Southern California School of Evangelism.  It has been updated by a former student and current evangelist David Ryal.

The devotional work has been used to give to those that are in prison, sent to our soldiers serving overseas, and used as handouts in the local work.  For a copy of the booklet, contact the Morro Bay Church of Christ at (805) 772-7248.
